Live Civil War Book Signings For the UK
News › Live Civil War Book Signings For the UK
My name is Bjorn Skaptason and I am writing on behalf of the Abraham Lincoln Book Shop in Chicago. In 2005 we rolled out a new concept in Civil War book signing events, the Interactive Virtual Book Signing™ www.VirtualBookSigning.net . A virtual book signing is a live, online book signing event, webcast from our shop, and streamed to the world. Customers, both in our store and online, buy books and see them inscribed by the finest historians in the area of the American Civil War and President Abraham Lincoln. Virtual book signings also feature the added value of a live interview with the author, and an archived video file on the web that continues to publicize the book long after the event. See www.VirtualBookSigning.net for what we do. So far authors such as Doris Kearns Goodwin, Edwin C. Bearss, Gordon Rhea, Harold Holzer, Gabor Boritt and Douglas Wilson, Timothy B. Smith, Gary Joiner, and Wiley Sword have participated in virtual book signings. Our customers have been able to obtain signed first editions from these fine authors, and they have enjoyed participating in our discussions during the live broadcast. They also regularly enjoy watching old programs – 24 of them at this point – on our Archive page. http://www.virtualbooksigning.net/archive.html . We have quite a few international fans from such diverse places as London, England, Heidelberg, Germany, and Perth, Australia. I feel that the members of The American Civil War Round Table UK would enjoy watching our programs and, we hope, acquiring signed first editions of the latest and best books through www.VirtualBookSigning.net . For our part, we love establishing connections with Civil War Round Tables around the world, since the first Civil War Round Table ever established was founded right here in the Abraham Lincoln Book Shop by the original owner of our business. If you watch one of our broadcasts you will notice a solid looking, circular table that our guests sit at while signing books. You guessed it – that is THE Round Table that Carl Sandburg, Pete Long, Ralph Newman, Otto Eisenschiml, Lloyd Lewis and others sat at once a month, starting in the late 1930’s, to discuss Abraham Lincoln and the American Civil War. Please take a look at Interactive Virtual Book Singing™, and consider whether your membership might enjoy learning about our events through your newsletter and web site. Best Regards, Bjorn Skaptason Abraham Lincoln Book Shop Chicago www.VirtualBookSigning.net ‹ Back to News
